Newlands kicked out of North Riding Cup
Park were due to face Stokesley on Saturday but manager Shaun Mancrief was concerned about the safety of his players making the drive north in treacherous conditions.
As Park secretary Hugh Brown explains, the club decided to withdraw from the fixture on Saturday lunchtime, leaving the North Riding FA to kick them out of the competition.

“We really feel common sense should prevail here and the safety of players should come first. Yes, the pitch might have been playable, but it could’ve been dangerous to travel up there and we have to put the safety of our players first.
“Our manager Shaun Mancrief emailed an explanation to the North Riding, but they’ve decided to kick us out of the competition.”
