In a Facebook post, North Yorkshire County Council said: "In the Ryedale, Scarborough, and Whitby areas all routes are passable with care.
"Our Highway Officers and gritter drivers are reporting that the conditions are very icy and there is still frozen snow in the centre of the carriageway on many routes which is proving difficult to plough.
"Our teams are being joined by our farming contractors who are working on our Priority Two routes.
"Please take care and only travel if necessary."
A yellow weather warning for snow comes into force at 5am on Wednesday and lasts until 9pm on Thursday.
