Shocking pictures of Brid guest house
Members of the Royal Pioneers Corps Nostalgia Group said they were dismayed after the discovery in various places of mould, damp, a bloodstain and litter, and suffered what they say were flea-bites at Yorkies Guest House on Pembroke Terrace.
The organiser of the group, Allan Sutcliffe, said more than 50 members had travelled from all over the country to stay at the hotel - which claims a three star AA raiting - to attend the annual gathering on Friday April 29.

“There was grime and filth. Personally, we don’t think they had changed the bedsheets and there were no bed protectors.”
Mr Sutcliffe said the experience was bad enough to put members off returning to Bridlington altogether, especially after paying around £4,000 for their stay at the guest house.
Fellow member Kevin Young, 57, claimed to see a bloodstain below a hole in the wall that someone had punched through.

“There were a few of us who had wanted to stay an extra night before they came, but they didn’t in the end.
“It was just horrific. Basil Fawlty had nothing on what we experienced.
“We got bitten all over our bodies. I even got a bite to my forehead.

He said there was rubbish on the floor of one of the rooms, damp, mould on material and even a dirty sock.
The members battled on to enjoy their reunion and raised £1,350 for charity.
But the complaints have been roundly dismissed by the owners of the accommodation, who are enraged at what was said.

“It appears almost 50 were happy, we are sorry the others were not.
“Our hotel isn’t perfect, and if you look on Trip Advisor at 90 per cent of the other old, struggling, rundown guest houses you will see many similar nitpicking close-up pictures and many, many unsatisfied reviews.
“The truth is, we are not all newly-built, freshly painted standard, exacting (sic) sized rooms in identikit buildings, ie Travelodge and Premier Inn

“I can assure you that you will NOT be bitten by fleas!”
The group’s allegations have left a foul taste in the mouth of member, and former Royal Pioneer, Cllr Liam Dealtry.
Cllr Dealtry, who suggested the Royal Pioneers Corps Nostalgia Group stay at Yorkies Guest House, said: “I had a great weekend, but I have fallen out with the group
now.
“I told them I had tried my best. I was very disappointed, but I can’t comment myself because I didn’t stay at the hotel.
“I wanted to show Bridlington at its best.”
