Mourners wear pink for farewell to cherished Jessica Saye

Mourners – some dressed in pink – lined the streets to pay their respects to the youngsters from Old Town.
A horse-drawn carriage carried her pink coffin to and from a funeral service at St Mary’s Church a week ago.

Hide AdWhile attendance at the service was limited because of coronavirus restrictions, many took up Jessica’s family’s invitation to turn out as the funeral cortege made its way from the church to Woodlands Cemetery.
Jessica’s tumour was diagnosed in March two years ago following after she suffered a stroke and seizures.
She initially underwent radiotherapy and chemotherapy but in January this year she and her family were given the devastating news that the tumour was advancing.
After being told Jessica’s tumour was no longer treatable, her family had tried to fulfill the cherished girl’s wishes before she died.

Hide AdThat included helping her to live like a princess for a day and saw her and her younger sister Daisy taking a horse and carriage ride.
Jessica, a pupil at Friarage Community Primary School, was described by her mother Kelly as “really clever, creative, kind and loving”.
