Nominations: It's time to say a Big Thank You
Don’t miss the opportunity to say who you think should pick up one of the ten awards.
The community awards, sponsored by Scarborough- based McCain, are for people who have carried out good deeds, taken on a personal challenge or raised funds for a charity or cause.

Hide AdThe scheme is run by Scarborough’s mayor, Cllr Tom Fox, in conjunction with The Scarborough News, the Filey and Hunmanby Mercury and the Whitby Gazette. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at Scarborough’s historic Spa Complex on Tuesday April 19.
Among the latest batch of nominations is 11-year-old Casey Greechan for the Charitable Fundraising Award. Casey had a huge 17 inches chopped off her long locks to raise money for The Rainbow Centre and donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust.
Under the Volunteer of the Year category, “selfless” Katie Riley, who is chair of a Breast Friends, a breast feeding support group, has been nominated for working “endlessly to ensure parents get the best support antenataly and postnataly.”
In the running for the Carer/Helper award is Rachel Amato, who has been nominated by one of her pupils at Barrowcliff School for her patience and going above and beyond the call of duty to help.

Hide AdHer nomination reads: “I’ll be leaving Barrowcliff School this year as I’m in my final year and this is a great way for me to thank Mrs Amato for all she has done for me.”
Votes are needed to give those behind the town’s uniformed groups, such as cadets and scouts, and individuals or groups who have taken on a personal challenge the recognition they deserve.
Other nominations across the 10 categories include Doreen Sleightholme, the Cloughton Rat Pack and Tony Baker.
