Letter: Loss of decent bus service
Although I don’t often use the buses myself I know lots of people that do. Retired people, schoolchildren, students and others too.
Many people retired to Burniston and Cloughton because they knew it had a decent bus service. I understand what the bus operator is saying about the service not being cost effective having seen for myself the 15 with few people on it at times but we still need a bus service.
The X93 is a request stop.

Potentially vulnerable people could miss important hospital and doctors’ appointments. But then this is all about money isn’t it?
Most of the people are either pensioners or children who use the service so the bus company is getting a little money from the county council for each person.
Will the county council reduce the subsidy it pays the bus company if these services cease?

It’s not all gone down south, because Kent has stopped issuing bus passes altogether.
