People are being urged not to try to go down the cliff to get to Port Mulgrave, between Staithes and Runswick Bay.
Staithes Coastguard Rescue Team posted on social media: "The steps have been taped off and we deem it unsafe to access the beach and fishermen’s huts due to the land slipping constantly at present. We would also advise against using any makeshift access."

"We continue to repeat our warnings that visitors to the coast should keep away from cliff edges and the base of cliffs due to continued erosion," they said.
"Our guidance would be to stay away from the base of the cliff the same distance as the cliff height, and to remain on designated cliff paths away from cliff edges.

Yesterday, Scarborough Borough Council warned that the heavy rain from previous days meant that cliffs in the area would be prone to slips.
It was asking people to keep away from cliff top edges and keep dogs on leads when walking on cliff top paths.
The council was also advising people not to walk at the foot of cliffs as there could be falling rocks and debris from above.
